Update to Operations

Posted in: Uncategorized

Earlier this week, Governor Scott passed a “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order and directed the closure of in-person operations for all non-essential businesses and non-profits. Animal shelters are exempt from this order, allowing Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society to remain in operation. We will remain open “by appointment only” for people who are seriously interested in adoption and for people to pick-up animal food and supplies from our Lucy Mackenzie Pet Pantry.

In our efforts to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and to keep our employees and community safe, we are limiting the number of people within the shelter to that of our core staff only, and are presently not scheduling volunteers.

Our staff uses a hospital-grade disinfectant throughout the shelter. We also regularly clean and disinfect high-traffic and high-touched areas daily.

We have two public restrooms stocked with antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer placed throughout the shelter. Visitors are asked to wash their hands or to sanitize between touching animals.

We are asking any employees who are sick to stay home. While here, our staff practice good hand hygiene.

We have some truly amazing animals looking for homes and families of their own. If you’ve been thinking about adding a new four-legged family member to your home, right now may be the perfect time to do so! All our adoptable animals can be viewed on our website: https://www.lucymac.org/pets/

If you would like to schedule an appointment to meet somebody, call us at 802-4848-LUCY (5829) or email info@lucymac.org.
