It was a summer filled with gorgeous plants and generosity at our Plants for Paws Fundraiser!
Our good friend and plant-sale mastermind Kerry Banks set out to raise $1,000 for the animals in our care by selling plants from her very own gardens. Every Saturday this summer, our main shelter entrance was decorated with fragrant, locally-grown plants and flowers. The selection included daylilies, lilac, garlic, roses, irises, hosta – just to name a few. None of the plants had a price tag, although many of them were worth quite a bit! Instead, Kerry asked people to name their own price knowing that what they paid would be 100% donated to Lucy Mackenzie.
With Kerry’s determination, the help of her family and friends and with the generosity of our community, not only was her goal met, but it was surpassed. We are so pleased to say that over $1,200 was raised!
We’re incredibly thankful to Kerry for all the hard-work that went in to this initiative and are already looking forward to next year’s Plant for Paws Sale. After all, it’s never too early to “Think Spring!”
