The search is on for a new Shelter Manager at Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society.
If you have a passion for animals and people, and have a proven track record of animal shelter or animal care experience, this may just be the job for you.


POSITION DETAILS
The Shelter Manager oversees the daily operations of Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, supporting and cultivating a respectful, humane environment for both animals and people.

Responsibilities
-Supervise shelter staff, including scheduling
-Ensure exceptional care of all animals
-Enforce shelter policies and procedures
-Facilitate all animal intakes and surrenders
-Facilitate and oversee all animal adoptions, including the adoption application process, following-up with potential adopters throughout the process and ensuring post-adoption support and follow-up is completed
-Oversee all staff training focusing on safety for our animals and all people
-Monitor the general health of shelter animals
-Maintain accurate and detailed medical and behavioral records of all animals
-Maintain a clean and environmentally safe shelter environment for the benefit of our animals, staff and visitors.
-Ensure medical care, as needed, is given at all times
-Assist with customer service operations, including pre and post adoption counseling
-Assist with cleaning duties as necessary
-Cultivate a welcoming and positive environment for our visitors, staff and animals
-Oversee Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society’s Volunteer Program, including recruiting, training, retention and communication.
-Oversee medical and general supply purchases, keeping detailed records of expenses to ensure shelter needs are met within the restrictions of the shelter’s budget
-Assist with fundraising and special events as requested

Requirements
-The shelter manager must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society’s operations.
-Must have excellent communication and customer service skills
-Must be able to support and cultivate a productive team environment
-Must be able to prioritize and manage responsibilities
-Must be a proven problem-solver
-Must promote a positive public image of Lucy Mackenzie at all times
-Must be able to work with the public, staff and general public in a professional and positive manner

Qualifications
-Minimum of four years of animal shelter or animal care experience
-Possess a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word and Excel)
-Must have a strong personal belief in Lucy Mackenzie’s core values and interest in animal welfare
-Must have effective verbal and written communication skills
-Must have demonstrated skill in providing strong, clear and fair management
-Must be available to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends and holidays
-Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
